HensleyArt exists to put something good into the world, one design at a time.
HensleyArt started in the recovery community, because that’s where I had something real to offer. Digital products, prayer cards, and graphics for AA and sober living groups, made by someone who has actually sat in the meetings and worked the steps, not a company using recovery as an aesthetic.
That’s where it starts. It’s not where it ends.
The belief underneath all of it is simple. We are what we think. The age of being hard on ourselves or on each other and calling it normal is over. Staying calm and positive in a chaotic world isn’t a small thing. It’s closer to a superpower than a platitude, and I want to put things into the world that put a smile on someone’s face.
Recovery gave me that belief before I had language for it. Step work, service, gratitude, presence, the things that keep a person sober are the same things that keep anyone steady. That’s why the work reaches past the recovery niche into anything that touches calm, purpose, and joy. The lessons are universal even when the language isn’t.
I’m publicly open about being in recovery. That’s a decision I made on purpose, not something I forgot to hide. Real anonymity is close to impossible now anyway, and I’d rather be honest about where this comes from than write around it. What I won’t do is talk about anyone else’s program. Other people’s anonymity stays theirs to keep.
The work carries two tones at once and I don’t pick one over the other. Some of it is quiet, calm, minimal, the kind of thing that ends up laminated and carried in a wallet. Some of it is warm, the kind that makes someone smile when they see it on a card or a shirt. Both are true, and both stay.
None of this is manufactured. I’m not a brand team describing a founder’s story. I’m the founder, and this is the story.
What this is built on
Authenticity
Everything here comes from something I actually lived. No manufactured persona standing in front of the work.
Intentionality
Every product has a reason behind it. The color, the type, and the words are chosen, not filled in.
Calm over chaos
The work is a small, deliberate choice against a world that profits from anxiety and outrage.
Service first
Recovery work stays free. Design work is what’s for sale. That line doesn’t move.
Range without apology
Quiet one day, warm and joyful the next. I don’t flatten it into one mood because consistency is easier.
The products live on Gumroad, with Etsy opening alongside it. This site is just where the story lives. Shop on Gumroad or see everything here.
